Terms of Service
Effective 13 September 2026
These terms govern your use of The Dashboard, a personal dashboard run by Carl Frankenfeld ("we", "us"). By signing in you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the dashboard.
The service
The Dashboard shows you the things you choose to keep on it and the information you choose to follow: notes and tasks, documents, unread counts for your mailboxes, weather forecasts, fuel, oil, currency and commodity prices, and the state of sites you monitor. Accounts are made by invitation, by an administrator, or by registration where that has been switched on. It is provided free of charge, as it is.
Your account
Your account is for you alone. Keep your password and your recovery code safe: the recovery code is the one way back into your content if both your password and the server's own key are lost. You are responsible for what is done under your account, and you agree to tell the administrator if you think someone else has used it.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the dashboard lawfully and not to:
- connect a mailbox or account you are not entitled to use;
- store or share content that is unlawful, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- try to reach another person's account or content, or to get around the dashboard's security;
- disrupt the service, or use it to disrupt anyone else's;
- use automated means to make requests in bulk.
Your content
What you put on the dashboard stays yours. You give us only the permission needed to store it, process it and show it back to you, which is what the service is. You are responsible for having the right to store whatever you upload. We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law.
Other people's services
Connecting a Google or Microsoft account, or showing forecasts and prices, means the dashboard talks to services that are not ours. Their terms apply to your use of them through the dashboard, and we are not affiliated with any of them. A widget can stop working if the service behind it changes or goes away, and that is outside our control.
Availability and accuracy
We aim to keep the dashboard running but do not promise that it will be available at any particular time, or that it will stay the same: features may change or be withdrawn. Keep your own copy of anything that matters to you, which the Backup tab in Settings gives you in full. Forecasts, prices, unread counts and site checks are shown as they were received and can be late, incomplete or wrong; do not rely on them for a decision that carries a cost.
No warranty and limited liability
The dashboard is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it or your inability to use it, including loss of data, loss of profit, or any indirect or consequential loss, and in any event our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid for the service, which is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending your use
You can stop using the dashboard at any time and ask the administrator to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that has been inactive for a long time, giving reasonable notice where that is practical.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version will be published here with a new date, and using the dashboard after that date means you accept them.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Questions about them go to the administrator of this dashboard.
